Senate confirms Barrett to Supreme Court, sealing a conservative majority for decades
[NB: Imagine Hillary Clinton with three SC appointments, making it 6-3 for liberals. Plus over 200 other federal judges. It's enough to make you weep.]
"No difference" is ALSO a voter suppression tactic -- don't think it isn't intentional
Researchers
at the University of Wisconsin found several categories of social media
suppression in the fall of 2018. Some posts on Twitter tried to deceive
opponents of President Trump by providing incorrect information about
the day to vote or announcing that “2018 is the A nrefirst year citizens can
vote by TEXT.” Other tweets tried to intimidate liberal voters by
telling
National Rifle Association members and Republicans to bring
their guns to the polls. Yet other social media posts attempted to deter
African Americans in 2018 by arguing that voting is pointless or that
there’s no difference between the two major parties. Many of these
messages used hashtags like #dontvote and #dontbeavoter. . . .

Trump’s New COVID Plan: Save Seniors, Good Luck to Everyone Else
With one week left in the election, President Donald Trump is perfecting his closing argument about the pandemic gripping much of the nation: Don’t worry about it. In rally after rally, tweet after tweet, Trump is encouraging his supporters and everyone else to stop talking about the coronavirus. His key message: It’s not that big of a deal, vaccines are on the way and if people get sick, most of them will survive it just as Trump and his family did. . .
A new WH "report" declares the coronavirus pandemic over. Okay, everyone, stop worrying!
The Trump administration triumphantly declared victory over the coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday, one week before the 2020 election and with COVID-19 cases surging across the country. The lie came in a news release on a new 62-page report from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy listing what it claims are the scientific and technological accomplishments during President Donald Trump’s first term. The list includes, “ENDING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.” . . . Tuesday’s release includes a quote from Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter and adviser who has zero training or background as a scientific expert. . . .

President Trump falsely claimed that it was against the law to count mail-in ballots after Election Day. . . “It would be very, very proper and very nice if a winner were declared on Nov. 3, instead of counting ballots for two weeks, which is totally inappropriate, and I don’t believe that’s by our laws. I don’t believe that.”
Justice Brett Kavanaugh parrots the Trump line
Justice
Brett Kavanaugh delivered a very Trumpian warning that any votes that
came in after Election Day could be viewed as illegitimate . . . “States
want to avoid the chaos and suspicions of impropriety that can ensue if
thousands of absentee ballots flow in after Election Day and
potentially flip the results of an election.”
Justice
Elena Kagan used her dissenting opinion in the case to rebuke the Trump
appointee, writing: “There are no results to ‘flip’ until all valid
votes are counted. And nothing could be more ‘suspicio[us]’ or
‘improp[er]’ than refusing to tally votes once the clock strikes 12 on
Election Night.”
[NB: Which would almost certainly delay their vote being counted until after election day. Uh. . . wait . . . what?]

Trump's pitch to women on coronavirus recovery: 'We're getting your husbands back to work'
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (who Trump called "That Woman from Michigan") gets back at Trump. Don't miss it
When I put my hand on the Bible at my inauguration, it did not occur to me that less than two years later, I would have to tell my daughters about a plot against me. But earlier this month, I learned that a multistate terrorist group was planning to kidnap and possibly kill me. Law-enforcement announced charges against 14 people as part of the plot. As jarring as that was, just over a week later, President Donald Trump traveled to Michigan, and when a crowd chanted “Lock her up” after he mentioned me, he said, “Lock them all up.” I am not surprised. I have watched the president wedge a deeper divide in our country; refuse to denounce white supremacists on a national debate stage; and launch cruel, adolescent attacks on women like Senator Kamala Harris and public-health leaders like Anthony Fauci. And while I won’t let anything distract me from doing my job as governor, I will not stand back and let the president, or anyone else, put my colleagues and fellow Americans in danger without holding him accountable. Every time the president ramps up this violent rhetoric, every time he fires up Twitter to launch another broadside against me, my family and I see a surge of vicious attacks sent our way. This is no coincidence, and the president knows it. He is sowing division and putting leaders, especially women leaders, at risk. And all because he thinks it will help his reelection. [read on]
Trump responds: https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/523028-trump-lashes-out-at-whitmer-as-crowd-reprises-lock-her-up-chant
President Trump on Tuesday lashed out at Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) during a rally in her home state, triggering a "lock her up" chant and arguing that the men accused of planning to kidnap her were entitled to a presumption of innocence. . . . At the first mention of the governor, the crowd broke into a chant of "lock her up." Trump smirked and looked on silently . . .
“And we’ll have to see if it’s a problem, right? People are entitled to say, ‘Maybe it was a problem, maybe it wasn’t,’” the President added.

We have noted here countless Trump violations of the Hatch Act, which bans govt employees from acting as campaign surrogates. Well, obviously this gang of mobsters doesn't care about the law.
