Anyone who thought this would be a serious, nuanced discussion of a complex policy issue saw clearly the kind of leader Trump would be: intemperate, spreading hate and paranoia, and deeply xenophobic in his world view. Whatever good might have come from his posing as a diplomatic partner to Mexico for a few minutes while standing on stage with their President was squandered almost immediately -- and Peña Nieto should feel like a fool for propping him up

Donald Trump's big immigration speech contained few surprises. He spent a lot of time on illegal immigrants who are criminals, but his solution was pretty simple: get rid of them. Period. End of story. And not just over the border, either. Way over the border so they can't come back. And if their home countries don't want them back, tough.
